Some Curious and Rather Fantastic Occurrences

dontcha just love curious and rather fantastic occurrences?
well I'm happy to say that I have FOUR to tell you about today :]

occurrence the first
LOOKBOOOOOOOOK :]
(this was the look on my face when I got the invite... closesly followed by something that slightly resembles a :D face)

camilla of Rainbow Paving Stones (a very awesome girl with a very awesome blog, her lookbook is the shizz, too) has invited me. THANK YOU CAMILLA :]

I've just posted my first look, so, uuuh, hype it or whatever you do on lookbook? yes I know I have miles to go on the lingo :] I'll become a fan of you guys (well I'll attempt to... sorry :p I swear I'll have got the hang of it in like a week,) if you tell me who you are.

occurrence the second
a beautiful blog award from PANDA of StudMuffin :]
Panda has an awesomely fun style which is half tight fitting body-conishness and half industrial amazing-military-coat-which-I-would-shamelessly-steal-off-her-ishness. with a bit of scenester thrown in :]

occurence the third
A Haute Mess award from TEGAN of Tegan on Toast. Ain't I a lucky girl? (no, actually, I'm excruciatingly clumsy. I just have nice friends :] )
Tegan is amazingly witty and her 'blog about life' is adorable. Plus... she has a TOASTER in her ROOM. Honestly, add a laptop and an ipod and you'll never need to leave your room again :]
both awards require seven things, but this post is long enough already so I'll save them for a few days :]
occurence the fourth
45 followers! five more untill 50!
ohemgee. Shall I go on the "I love every last one of you" spiel? My fingers are quite tired so I shall pray for five more followers and then give the soppiest speech ever when I reach 50 (if I ever do, that is. You never know, 45 could be just as much tolerance as the blogger community will give me.)

snow and stuff :]

As promised, here is the roundup of pictures from the holidays...

First... CHRISTMAS :D lots of cute cousins (I am the oldest in my generation, you see, so there are many kiddies running around and asking me for things at any family occasion. Not to mention *shudder* lots of Miley Cyrus music *shudder*)

5 TOP CHRISTMAS PRESSIES :]

1) ipod touch 32g :D This was the big cheese for me. I've been wanting one for ages.
2) A giraffe. Well, sort of. my grandpa adopted one at the zoo for me. what a surprise that was.
3) THE CURE GREATEST HITS in my stocking (yessss!) and the ministry if sound 'electronic 80s' compilation from Loopy.
4) two books called "You know you're a child of the 80s when..." from Phoebe (and yes I am aware that I'm not, technically, a child of the 80s...) and the sartorialist's book in my stocking :]
5) a vintage baseball jacket from bee. Well it wasn't actually a present. I just stuck it my suitcase and she didn't notice. hehehe :3

WHAT TO BUY WITH YOUR XMAS ITUNES VOUCHERS
Out Of the Blue - Julian Casablancas (now that sounds really soppy and taylor-swift-y, mostly because his name is casablancas but it's actually pretty good.)
Letting Go - Team Waterpolo
Haven't we all made this face when opening something?? :p

my amazing handmade wrapping paper :o

GERMANY (wooooo)
a snowball in action. This is a favourite pic of mine :]

the little town of Heidelburg ...and bee :]

OHMYGAWD. Did anyone else watch the dr. who christmas special?? OMGOMGOMGOMG. The master is so fucking evillll (lol at the part where hes wearing a dress :3) and the time lords cant come back. NOO. Then the doctor wont be the only one!! And they looked a little leery. Not like the doctor at all.
wow. I'm such a nerd. no, seriously. :L
Me eating my favourite German word (hmhmhmh that sounded better in my head) a FRIKKADELLE :] and what a word it is!

llamaaaaaahhhkhdks

if you have any more awesome German words (or any language for that matter) drop me a comment :]

3 EPIC THINGS I DID IN GERMANY :D
1) Visited a store where everything is made of gummy bears (well, not everything, but there's a lot of shit made of gummy bears)
2) wore three pairs of socks at the same time o_o
3) Stole some cool posters off the street. Except when my friend told me I could be arrested. Then I stopped.

I think that may just have been a record-breaking amount of photos.
So I won't bore you with a huge chunk of text at the end.
happy holidays bloginos :]

four reasons why I haven't updated in ages...

1) I am a very bad blogger :[
2) I have been working on a story for my little cousin. I write her one every christmas and it tends to eat up a lot of my time.
3) I have been in GERMANY with bee for the last few days and, awesome as it was, I was sans internet.
4) Today I was seeing Where the Wild Things are, which I thought was absolutely stunning, I loved the imagination, the colour scheme, the soundtrack by Karen O and it featured possibly the coolest fort ever :]

So expect a little holiday round-up of photos, etc. in a couple of days.
and yes, I am aware of the utter boringness of this post.

Solange Azagury-Partridge

My mom was atually the first person to tell me about Solange, she has an eye for quirky jewellery. Every piece is just so clever and really inspirational... And she has a collection called 'random.' (Ah, randomness....) If you're like me and have had a stressful week which has been divided between homework and searching (in vain) for typewriter ink then it's probably about time to look at some interesting jewellery.

Anyways, I wanted to pick out my favourte piece.
......
narrowed it down to the top ten :]

ONE
the 'Real Fakes.' Reminiscent of my red diamond necklace, no? Perhaps it's the monarch if the real-fake diamond community :]

TWO
The 'Hearts of Gold.'

THREE'Bacchus'

FOUR
'Big Fringe' go on the website and see the fringe pieces moving :]

FIVE
'Mirror Box'

SIX
'Union Jack.' This is a contender for absolute favourite. I'm a sucker for Union Jacks :)
SEVEN
'Mardi's animals' I love the bee :]

EIGHT
'Hotlips' These are some of her most famous and super gorgeous... I love all the different colours.

NINE
'Mercury'

TEN
'Cherry Stones'
Not only this, but she might just have the most amazingly artsy website I have ever seen. There are loads of little animations and you can actually see the jewellery in motion, cause it is full of hinges and tassles and trapdoors and teeny marvellous detailish things! Have a look :]
And her catalogue is pretty cool too... it's a proper hard-back book!!! :o (I'm guessing I'm the only one who's mind is blown by that....)

my favourite flavour is AWESOME

I never realised I was consdered 'awesome.' Thanks so much, kiki :] (she even used the word in the little description of me! observe: 'Bella, a very awesome fashion blogger as well as trampoline stunt jumper' .....trampoline artist by day, blogger by night? that's me pretty much summed up :p)

Okie dokie, now I have to....
• Thank whoever gave this to you.
• Copy the award.
• Repost it in your blog.
• Tell us seven things that your readers don’t know.
• Link seven new bloggers.
• Notify the winners of the award with a comment on their blog.

Seven more things?? I'll try :)

I have a sharpie obsession.
My first obsession was Johnny Bravo (the show, that is, not the guy)
I now know many real-life Johnny Bravos, ironically :)
Currently playing off my itunes is I like Birds by the Eels
When I'm 70 I plan to dye my hair orange or blue and have at least five dogs.
My dream holiday would be in Tokyo, and I plan to live there at some point.
Last night I watched Pretty in Pink and 16 candles. Oh em gee, it doesn't get much better than that. Oh wait, it does... I was wearing leopard print tights and neon pink knee-highs.

on that note, here are the results of last night. (yes, I dragged tallulah into my eighties chick flick fest :p) They came out a little shitty and grainy, though...

again not tagging real life friends but I swear I do love you guys loads :)

Bella [first] Blondie shirt - Blondie concert (thats whut Im talking about :D) skirt - completely homemade :), tights - H&M, socks - American Apparel
Tallulah [second] shirt - American Apparel, shorts - Dirty Dancing souvenier, tights - Topshop, legwarmers - Primark

any opportunity to dress my friends up as me :D
...OK I feel another Duckie-is-so-cool-oh-my-gawd-I-love-him lecture coming on, bai fer nao :]

Fail Nails (and other tales)

The Fail Nails

OMFG I PAINTED UNION JACKS ON MY NAILS! Nothing says patriotism like wearing one's flag on one's manicure. It was a bit of a fail...and you're not seeing the other hand (it turned into modern art.)

The Other Tales
An outfit I wore ages ago that was decidedly blog-worthy.
Batman top (you now have the batman theme tune stuck in your head.) - Portobello/DIY, Velvet shorts - vintage, tights - topshop, cardi - uummmm new look?, geek glasses - boutique-ish place full of art students

Not only is there a rosette in my hair, but it's a FIRST PLACE rosette which was actually won by my dog... (my mom/dad/brother got bored of me raiding their wardrobes.... but the dog can't speak english so....)

it looks a little better bigger

and lastly, my friend Autumn asked my to draw her. If you want to be drawn, drop me an email. I'm pretty lazy about drawing and will never do it if people don't ask me.

sorry this was so overdue, agghhhhh, I'm behind on my blogging and commenting! (speaking of which, 37 comments on my boingy photos :D)

Monday, 9 November 2009

I nearly broke my leg but it was worth it in the end :)

I mean, is there any pose you can't do in mid air?

You'd be surprised, actually. The temptation to don freaky/intense facial expressions is unbearable :p
and of course there's the constant fear of missing the trampoline on the landing.....

Sorry about the outfits, you caught me on a slobbier day :)

Tuesday, 3 November 2009

because we haven't had a drawing in a while

nope, it's been mostly photos and outfits lately. shocking.
here are some drawings from egypt.... due to a shortage of scanners over there I was forced to do the whole picture-of-a-picture thing.... never all that flattering (especially with my little camera.)

*cough* still havent got any emails *cough cough* ;)

All Hallow's eve

I went as a Fashion Victim.
Yep, that's a shoe sticking out of my, uh, brain.
(No teenagers were harmed in the making of this costume. Though I am sad to say that an innocent shoe was defaced. But all in the name of extravagance.)

Here are the details of the.... well, I guess it could be called a fascinator, if not some sort of headdress??

I tried taking some photos of the other details, but my camera wasn't in a great mood and they didn't focus. This is the best I got: the "bleeding chanel logo" ....a sort of play on the recent dripping Cs that seem to be popping up as of late.

And now I have two pieces of very exciting news to tack onto the end of my halloween post!

First of all, I have decided to create a bloggerish email address. I confess I spent ages trying to come up with something cute and unique but still memorable.
I ended up with bella.englisheccentric@googlemail.com which ticks none of the boxes but oh well.
We'll see how it goes :)

Second of all (this is much more exciting!) I just recieved the Beautiful Blogger Award from michelle of Glisters And Blisters :o My first award! :)

Here are "THE RULES."
1. Thank the person who nominated me for this award. (check.)
2. Copy the award & place it on my blog. (check.)
3. Link to the person who nominated me for this award. (check.)
4. Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself.
5. Nominate 7 bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs i nominate.

Seven interesting things?? I don't think I'm all that interesting... so how about the seven randomest things I can think of?
1. I am currently going through a White Stripes/Liz Phair phase.
2. I am permanently going through a The Cure/Clap Your Hands Say Yeah phase.
3. My most recent purchase was two donuts at Camden Market.
4. I wish I had red hair.
5. I rarely leave the house without a pack of cherry drops and various sugar sachets in my bag.
6. My favourite movies are Howl's Moving Castle, Son Of Rambow, The Breakfast Club and Spirited away.
7. I'd quite like to watch School Of Comedy, cause it has the guy from Son of Rambow in it, but frankly, I just don't have the time.

And just when I thought I had gotten past the hard bit, I have to chose a mere seven bloggers to pass on the award to. To make it easier for myself, I am not going to tag "real life" friends because I get to show you guys the love all the time :)
1. Panda of Stud Muffin
2. Jessica of Fascination Drop
3. Andie of High Voltage
4. Dylana of Nana in Los Angeles
5. Olivia of Olivia's Pizzazz
6. Yiqin of Qin At The Disco
7. Claire of Faboo
These are people that have awesome blogs and have been really nice. I wasn't able to tag everyone I wanted to. Sorry bout that...
Have a nice-day-after-halloween :)

EE-JIPT.

Hello my homies :]
I just got back from the inspirational and sweltering land of Egypt. I admit, I took over 600 photos but I've tried to narrow it down to just nine.
Obviously, most of the photos I took were pretty touristy and didn't have a great deal of artistic merit...and I was using my slightly aged digital camera.... these are the ones that ashame me least!
And how about a lovely little commentary accompanying each one?

Ok, here we have, um... my leg :) I loved the perspective that these pillars created, so I stuck the leg in there to break it up a bit.

These are som fishermen on the nile. Oh how picturesque.

These are ancient egyptian perfume recipies in a temple. There was an entire room covered floor-to-ceiling with these carvings. Jo Malone meets the Shining in Pharonic times??? :o

This is a cow, if you haven't already guessed :p it was grazing on one of those random paches of grass that sits on the nile, kinda like a skin sits on soup.

This is an obelisk which I think was built by queen Hetshepsut, probably the most kickass pharoh ever.

Egyptian perfume bottles (I doubt they were made from the earlier recipies if that's what you're thinking :])

Not only is this a fucking awesome and photogenic camel, it's called mickey :o

The Great Pyramid af Giza which I hiked up inside depite a lack of stairs and air conditioning. It was pretty breathtaking and spooky, though :)

and here is possibly my favourite picture from the entire trip....

:)
more postys soon :)
